REDDITCH’S very own independent rare record and vinyl shop Vintage Trax is marking an important musical milestone with an “Apple Day” event this weekend.
This year marks 50 years since “Apple Corps” was conceived by the Beatles after the death of their manager, Brian Epstein in 1967.
In September 1967, they set up an office for Apple Publishing on Baker Street in London, and the company went on to register, among others, Apple Electronics, Apple Music Publishing, and Apple Records.
To mark the anniversary, Vintage Trax will be hosting an event at its Birchfield Road shop in Headless Cross between 10.30am and 5pm this Saturday October 7 with music, nibbles, and Apple artists’ records on sale.
“The founding of Apple Corps was a significant happening in the music world,“ said Vintage Trax owner, Ros Sidaway.
“It saw the Fab Four take greater control of their business affairs, and we want to celebrate it.”
A framed photographic print of the iconic, but short lived, Apple Boutique, signed and authenticated by the photographer, Bill Zygmant, will also be on sale.
The event coincides with Headless Cross Community Orchard’s annual Apple Day on Headless Cross Green, from 11am to 4pm.
