RAISE money and get active – that’s the rallying cry from Redditch Borough Council who are on the lookout for kind-hearted residents who are up for a challenge all in the name of charity.
The town’s Abbey Stadium will host 100K Cycle and and Row events on Saturday, March 19 and are currently looking for teams of four to complete the course between them.
The site will also welcome active residents the following day as part of the annual Sport Relief Mile on the Stadium track.
Local people can take part by running, jogging or walking themselves proud.
In the run up to the Sport Relief Mile, the Borough Council have encouraged people to get fit by arranging four Couch to 5K nine-week running courses which are all due to finish on the March 20 – the same day as Sport Relief Mile.
Councillor Pat Witherspoon, whose portfolio covers leisure services, said: “The health and wellbeing of our residents is one of our main concerns and priorities.
“These events have the added bonus of raising money for a wonderful charity which could help people from across the world.
“I commend anyone who takes on these challenges be it rowing, running or just getting up and moving -we’re proud to support our residents.”
The Mile will take place on the track making it a safe and fun environment for adults and children alike and will be supported by the STARS (Sunday Training and Running Session) running group, who run from the Abbey on a Sunday morning at 9.30am.
