Redditch residents to get 25p off e-scooter rides if they wear a helmet

E-SCOOTER operator Bird is offering money off rides if users take a selfie while wearing a helmet to prove they are road safe.

At the end of each trip Redditch residents will be asked to whip out their phones and take a picture to get 25p off their next journey.

The discount is designed to increase helmet usage and improve the safety of riders in the town.

Bird’s vice president Caroline Hazlehurs said: “By giving people money off their next ride if they wear a helmet, we hope to drive helmet adoption and make sure our riders put safety first.”

Bird has given away nearly 80,000 free helmets in the last 18 months.

Caroline added: “While giving away helmets is important, we also need to encourage riders to wear them.”

Riders can share their helmet selfies on social media by using the hashtag #BirdHelmetSelfie to help promote safety.
