A WARNING has been issued for thousands of Beko tumble dryers over concerns they could burst into flames.
The company has issued a safety alert about the fire risks of 3,450 of its condenser tumble dryers manufactured five years ago, and owners are now being told to stop using them immediately.
The safety notice has been issued for 8kg and 9kg capacity condenser tumble dryers, manufactured between May and November 2012 and they pose a fire risk due to an over-heating third-party-supplied component.
Alex Neill, Which? Managing Director of Home Products and Services, said: “All owners should urgently visit the Beko website to check whether their model is at risk of catching fire.
“Consumers can also visit the Which? Consumer Rights pages online for important advice about faulty goods and your consumer rights.”
The affected models are DCU9330W, DCU9330R, DCU8230, TKF8439A, and DSC85W and anyone who has one of these machines should stop using it immediately and disconnect it from the wall as a precaution.
Beko is alerting customers to register for a free modification, if required, after checking the model and serial number.
Call Beko on 0800 917 2018 to check whether your machine is at risk and visit http://bit.ly/2rU87nP or www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights to find out more.
