Redditch residents win big - after signing up to help save the planet

Redditch Editorial 21st Dec, 2017   0

A REDDITCH resident who signed up to a council scheme to recycle more will be viewing 2018 with a new clarity – on a brand new Smart TV.

Patricia Bunn, of Church Hill, signed up to Worcestershire County Council’s Rewarding Redditch campaign and is already seeing the benefits of reducing her waste, by winning prizes.

The campaign, which launched in October, encourages residents to earn points by taking on activities, such as reducing food waste or pledging to recycle more.

These points can then be swapped for vouchers or donated to local charities- and are sometimes entered into nationwide prize draws.

A total of 900 Redditch residents have signed up to the campaign since its October launch, and so far this month three Redditch residents have scooped prizes.

Patricia, who won a 32 inch SMART TV in one of the daily Christmas Giveaways, said: “I’m delighted to have won this fantastic prize.

“I would encourage other residents of Redditch to sign up today to learn more about how they can reduce their waste, increase recycling and get rewarded.”

Lakeside resident Lorna Wood also won a £50 M&S voucher in one of the daily draws.

Coun Tony Miller, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for the Environment, said: “The Rewarding Redditch campaign is a great way to encourage people to reduce their waste and earn rewards at the same time. Residents can feel good about cutting the amount that goes in their grey bin and at the same time get vouchers or discounts at local stores.”
