REDDITCH resident Darren ‘Daz’ Stokes will be hoping Cupid’s arrow will strike when he appears on Channel 5’s Blind Date this Sunday, June 2.
Hosted by Paul O’Grady, the iconic show has legions of fans and is seen by millions every week.
And Daz will be hoping his wit and repartee will win over the love of his dreams.
“I can’t say anything about what happened, you’ll just have to watch the show,” he said.
“I first applied in 2017 and got right down to the last few – it was just one of those things as they know the sort of person they are looking for.
“Then last year they rang me up – I didn’t go down for an interview but did one over Skype and I got in.”
The show was recorded last November and it’s been a long wait to see it finely come on the air.
“I can’t say anything about what happened on the show, but I had a great experience,” said Daz, who’s no stranger to the TV screen.
He’s appeared on Deal or No Deal and Coach Trip and while he currently works at a Redditch supermarket, he’s also an entertainer having worked as a Red Coat with Butlins and worked for Disney as a cultural representative for the UK out in Florida.
“I’ve done quite a bit of other TV stuff,” added Daz.
“I did First Dates a few years ago and they recorded it but never put it out and Blind Date – well, I’m no spring chicken but I’ve always been a fan of Cilla Black and it was something I’d always wanted to do.
“Paul was lovely to me and we chatted about his many books and he even gave me a signed picture for my mom.”
