REDDITCH Rotary Club marked its 70th birthday this week with a special meal and an anniversary cake.
The celebratory lunch was held on Monday, November 27 at the Abbey Hotel, Redditch with 73 guests, including the Mayor of Redditch Jenny Wheeler, her consort Steve Wheeler, and Gary Dancer, Rotary district governor.
Club President, Malcolm Jones, welcomed the guests and musician Colin Bell, a former President of Solihull Rotary Club, played a selection of music.
Following a generous lunch came the speeches with Mayor Wheeler revealing an impressive knowledge of the history of Redditch Rotary Club.
Mr Dancer also presented a special long-term service award to Rotarian Mike Ostroumoff to mark his 45 years dedicated service to the club.
A special anniversary cake had been commissioned, and Mr Jones and the vice president Noel Pritchard performed the ceremonial cutting.
