Redditch Rotarians to launch recruitment drive in Kingfisher Centre

A MAJOR recruitment drive by Rotary International is to be launched in Redditch’s Kingfisher Shopping Centre, in a bid to attract vibrant new members.

For five days, Rotary will be stationed in Worcester Square in the shopping centre inviting passersby to take part in a range of activities and get a taste of what Rotary has to offer.

For more than a century, Rotary has dedicated itself to helping communities at home and across the world, whether it’s through building schools, helping tsunami victims in Sri Lanka or raising the funds to eliminate polio from numerous countries.

It is through the support of its members that Rotary is able to carry out its community work, and it is inviting locals to join them to make a difference by becoming a member.

Starting on Monday, March 27, the membership drive aims to raise Rotary’s profile in Redditch, giving them the opportunity to see in action some of the brilliant work Rotary does.

Each day will be dedicated to one of Rotary’s six key areas of focus, ranging from topics such as disease prevention and treatment to water and sanitation. Each day will be supported by an interactive activity that is open to the public, inspired by the theme of the day.

Peter Roberts, District Governor for the Redditch region, said: “Rotary has long supported community projects in Redditch and has held a song heritage of doing great work with the support of locals. We’ve identified that people are keen to give a bit of their time to volunteer or support local causes but can’t find the right outlet, so we’re keen to show Rotary provides the perfect platform to support this.

“Rotary has previously held a perception that it is old fashioned but that simply isn’t the case anymore, it has evolved into a vibrant organisation of like-minded people wanting to get together to make friends, network and support some really great causes.”

With a global presence of more than 1.2million members, Rotary is continuing to develop, taking on a fresher, more diverse identity. Thriving off its community-led approach, the organisation provides the perfect place to meet and make solid friends for life, whilst fitting around your lifestyle and commitments.

The membership drive station will be positioned in Worcester Square of the Redditch Kingfisher Centre, open from 9am to 4.30pm daily from Monday March 27 to Friday March 31. On Thursday 30th March, the station will stay open until 6.30pm.
