A MEMBER of Redditch Rotary Club is hoping for a clear sight of the finish line at the forthcoming AJ Bell Great North Run.
Club member Steve Robson is busy training for the half marathon, and is hoping to raise as much money as he can for a very worthy cause.
Steve hopes his donation will help fund a mobile eye surgery facility in conjunction with The Rotary Club of Cuttack, in Eastern India.
There is a high degree of blindness in parts of the sub continent which is largely treatable if the right kit is available.
The Rotarians are hoping to raise £5,000 to help fund the venture.
Steve said: “I’ve been training since May and I’m aiming for a target time of two hours and 15 minutes.”
The event will be a family affair as Steve will be running with his two daughters and his sister.
The Rotary Club president and fellow club members have been on hand to encourage Steve during training and help promote the Just Giving fund raising portal.
