Redditch 'Rotary ride'

MEMBERS of the public were put to the test at the ‘Rotary Ride’ event in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre last Saturday.

The aim was to see how many metres they could get under their wheels on a five minute static bike challenge in a big-hearted bid to raise vital money to combat prostate cancer.

It was all organised by Redditch’s Rotary clubs, helped by staff from PureGym and members recorded results, handed out literature, collected money for Prostate Cancer UK – and had a go themselves.

The event saw some impressive distances covered including 10-year old Olivier Siwek, who covered 4.3km in the time allowed, but the star of the day was Mark Southall who tallied 4.6km – an average speed of 55.2km/hour – which PureGym’s trainers could only manage on their second attempt!
