Redditch salon owner launches appeal for prom dresses

A KIND-HEARTED Redditch salon owner has launched an appeal for prom dresses to make sure as many girls as possible can celebrate the end of their time at high school in style.

Sarah Morris, who owns Salon M in Mount Pleasant, came up with the idea after talking to mums while she was styling their hair.

“Some proms can cost up to £1,000, and parents simply cannot afford it,” she said.

Sarah contacted schools about her idea and found out there were quite a lot of girls who would not be going to their proms because of the cost.

She launched an appeal for dresses and has so far had a fantastic response.

“We have got quite a few already but with the different shapes, sizes and styles, you can never have too many so we’re always looking for more.”

She has urged anyone who could donate a dress or any girls who need a dress for their prom and would otherwise be unable to go to get in touch.

They can go down to Salon M and try on the frocks to find one which fits and they feel happy in.

Sarah also offers free hair-styling and make-up (at the cost of the product) to girls who need it as well.

“Everyone should be entitled to go to their prom and have a great time and we want to do what we can to make that happen.”

“If it can be used again then that is great but if for some reason it can’t, then that’s no problem either.”

To find out more about donating a dress or for girls who want to organise a trip down to Salon M to try one on, call Sarah on 07415 560485 or search for ‘Salon M Hair and Beauty’ on Facebook.
