A REDDITCH school has received a glowing report as part of its ongoing assessment.
St Bede’s is striving to be an Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) school.
IQM provides schools with a nationally-recognised framework to guide its inclusion journey and help them evaluate and measure how they are performing.
IQM flagship status recognises those unique schools which have held IQM Centre of Excellence status for at least three years and have played a strong leadership role in developing inclusion best practice across a network of schools.
An IQM spokesperson said the school was a peaceful and very calm environment.
“Moving around the site, pupils appear to be comfortable, confident and respectful of their peers and staff, the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) are a visible and positive presence around the school.
“Pupils are happy to say ‘hello’, have a chat and share a joke with staff.”
The school was also praised for its effective pastoral approach being outlined and demonstrated by different members of staff.
Pupils are supported to be comfortable with getting things wrong and this is re-framed as a learning opportunity.
Assistant headteacher Matt Russell said: “As a school we are delighted to receive this prestigious award.
“IQM recognises what our core values are at St Bede’s – that every child is special, important, and made in the image of God.
“It also recognises how inclusive we are as a school and the lengths all the staff go to, to ensure every child at St Bede’s has the best education and experience whilst at our school.
“This award has come about through the hard work of all the staff who go above and beyond both inside and outside of the classroom and we are delighted this high regarded report reflects our school so accurately.
“I would particularly like to thanks our SEN team which has worked so hard to ensure St Bede’s has achieved flagship status, particularly our SENCO, Mr West, and our amazing teaching assistants who go above and beyond and help make St Bede’s the special school it is.”
