Redditch school boy helping to keep the streets clean

A SCHOOL- BOY from Matchborough First School has been helping keep the community clean by litter picking during the school holidays.

Jacob Alford, aged six, from Matchborough has been litter picking at the families local Morrisons since he was three-years-old.

It started as an activity for Jacob to do during the school holidays as his parents work at the store.

But he now he has litter picked with a group of staff and Councillor Juliet Brunner around Matchborough pond and often out with his parents or grandparents doing the same.




He has also been out and about in the local community with with Morrisons Community Champion Beverley Allington.

She said: “I have had the pleasure of watching Jacob over the last 3 years and he is always so very happy to donate his own time to litter pick with me.


“There is never a piece of rubbish left when he is about.

“As a company we need to encourage theses children as they are our next generation of maybe environmentalist.

“All we can say is a big well done Jacob.”
