DARLING ducklings have been taking centre stage at a Redditch school this week, with five baby birds hatching out on Friday.
Staff and pupils at Crabbs Cross Academy waited with baited breath after a clutch of seven eggs delivered to them last Thursday from a local farm and were excited to see five fluffy ducklings hatch out last Friday.
After a three hour rest in their incubator, the ducklings were transferred to their new home for the week in the corner of the school hall.
With a sawdust nest, gentle heat lamp and fresh drinking water, the ducklings happily slept and played until they were ready to take the plunge and have a swim on Monday morning.
A spokesperson for the school said: “The whole school have been involved with the ducklings and it’s been a really magical experience.
“To see them hatch, grow quickly in just a few days and then take their very first swim together has been an amazing journey.”
