Redditch school children paint a picture of the past

YEAR 3 children from Abbeywood First School have been leading the way in a community art project at Willow Trees Community Centre in Church Hill.

With the support of the Church Hill Big Local and working alongside local artist, Kate Brookes, the children created a design that was based around Redditch’s history with needle making and sewing.

Their mural reflects how a community or group of people is a bit like a patchwork quilt with lots of different patterns of fabric all put together to make something beautiful, just like people.

The children looked at fabric designs from different cultures, their differences and their similarities.

This was turned into a mural that now adorns a wall in Willow Trees Community Centre.

Help was also gratefully received from some Year 8 students from Church Hill Middle School to painting the out-of-reach areas.
