A REDDITCH school has been given nearly £10,000 to renovate its ageing playground by the National Lottery.
The Parents and Teachers Association at Beoley First School was told the trim trail area would have to be demolished as it was no longer useable due to age. But the cost of replacing it was out of their reach and they would not be able to cover the cost in their annual fund-raising.
Sallie-Ann Eaton, chair of Govenors, said: “We are very pleased to say that we have been successful in obtaining a grant of £9,295 by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund for a new all weather surface.
“This will help us greatly on the way to completing our project and we now have the challenge of raising the money for the equipment.”
The school hopes to raise another £6,000 to complete the project and has arranged several fund-raising activities with the community.
