Ross Crawford 26th Jan, 2021

ST BEDE’S Middle School has received top accreditation from Worcestershire Works Well.

The ‘Level 2’ award is to mark the Studley Road school’s hard work to support health and wellbeing during a challenging year.

They are the first school to have achieved this accreditation.

Worcestershire Works Well is a free scheme designed to support businesses to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees, something which has been shown repeatedly to improve profitability and productivity.

On their award of the accreditation, Hayley Farbrother, art co-ordinator at ST Bede’s, said: “We believe that school staff wellbeing is fundamental in the job that we do.

“It so important that staff feel good in themselves and feel valued and supported.

“This in turn has a strong positive impact on the wellbeing of the children they are working with, allowing them to flourish and achieve their full potential.

“Worcestershire Works Well has really helped St Bede’s focus on what staff need and how we can support them further with their wellbeing.”

Head of School Luke Payton said: “It’s fantastic that our school has been recognised as an organisation that supports positive wellbeing.

“We are a Gold Mental Health Award School and wellbeing for pupils and staff is at the very top of our agenda.

“We benefit from support from our family of schools in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic MAC as well and this has helped to enhance our positive workplace environment.

“As a school, we are now looking forward to achieving the next level of the award and seeing how we can develop our workplace further.”

To obtain the accreditation organisations are required to meet the criteria for eight core standards plus at least one additional standard. These include environment and culture, leadership and management, mental health and more.

There are three levels which an organisation can work towards, starting from Level one.

Worcestershire Works Well accreditation demonstrates that an organisation takes employee health and wellbeing seriously.
