THE Redditch Labour Party School Uniform Bank organised by Councillor Joe Baker will be held this year on Saturday, August 18 between 9am and 12noon at the Ecumenical Centre Redditch.
“This year’s event has been the busiest ever with more and more people requesting help and we have been inundated with donations and support,” said Coun Baker.
“Redditch is a truly remarkable town when it comes to helping others.
“We have also had great support from the following people and organisations: Nikki at the Ecumenical Centre, Inspire Community Group Winyates, Green Willow Healing Group, Omega Therapies, and the many volunteers that donate and collect for us.”
Diamond Buses even got involved, operational manager Chris Bridges arranging the purchase of shoes from Shoe Zone where staff Margaret and Deborah donated their store discount to help out.
“It’s always a privilege to help Councillor Baker with his project and to do something to help our local communities,” said Chris.
“It’s so important for a business like Diamond to be supporting our town and its residents.”
Coun Baker added: “More and more we are hearing our residents struggling financially as we go door to door during our Labour Listens campaign,
“The School Uniform Bank is here to help families who are finding times hard as this Government fails to address the needs of everyone in our society, and we hope again to help this year as we have done for the last few years.
“If you need help with a school uniform or would like to donate shoes or clothes simply pop along to the Ecumenical Centre in Evesham Walk on August 18 between 9am and 12noon.”
