Redditch schools sign up to help save the planet - and win a share of £2,000

FIVE schools in Redditch have signed up to help save the planet – and receive a share of £2,000 at the same time.

Matchborough First School, RSA Academy Arrow Vale, Tardebigge First School, Walkwood C of E Middle School and Webheath Academy Primary School have all signed up to the Rewarding Redditch scheme – a waste reduction campaign where people can earn points and donate them to schools to spend.

Parents and teachers can sign up and by undertaking activities such as reducing food waste, buying a compost bin or recycling, can earn points.

These points can be swapped for vouchers, discounts at local or national stores or donated to the school.

At the end of June, the school with the most points will get the largest share of the money, but each school will get a share of the £2000 depending on the percentage of points they have collected.

More schools are being invited to sign up to the trial campaign which is only open to residents of the borough of Redditch.

Matthew Ball, Managing Director of Greenredeem who are running the campaign on behalf of Worcestershire County Council, added: “We’re very excited to be launching a schools’ donation scheme through Greenredeem. Rewarding Redditch is all about community and creating a better environment for our children.

“We hope that by empowering residents of Redditch to make a financial contribution to their local school by taking an everyday green action will be very motivating and a win-win for the community.”
