Redditch Scouting funday hailed a success

Redditch Editorial 3rd Aug, 2024   0

THE ANNUAL funday for 1st Redditch Scout Group was hailed a success.

The day included a bouncy castle, soft archery and lots of stalls, games and Scout skills.

The Mayor of Redditch, Coun Juma Begum was also invited to join the festivities and helped to present the annual awards to the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Each section gets three awards, ranging from most improved to most badges award.

Scouts can also voted for who they believed to be the best Beaver, Cub or Scout.

For the Scout section, this award also comes with a prestigious title of Mayoral Cadet and gets to support the borough Mayor at events through her term.

Group Lead Volunteer, Sallie-Ann Barnett, said: “This is the third year we’ve had this collaboration with the Mayor’s office and it is a fantastic opportunity for one of our Scouts to have lots of special experiences and to get an insight into the job of the Mayor.

“Millie Smith was voted in by the other Scouts in her Troop and I am sure that she will represent us excellently.

“We presented nine awards in total as well as lots of badges and I’m very proud of all the young people in our Group”.
