Redditch Scouts in plea for more volunteers in bid to meet demand

SCOUT groups in Redditch are appealing for more adult volunteers, as they are struggling to keep properly staffed, writes Mia Batley.

The 1st Redditch group, based in Greenlands, recently lost three leaders suddenly due to relocation, and desperately need volunteers to fill in the roles, or they may have to shut down sections due to lack of support.

Shutting down in areas is the last thing the organisation wants to do, and they are attempting to avoid this at all costs.

The Scout group is currently sharing leaders among areas in order to have appropriate supervision over the children.

as a result the 1st Redditch group, are looking for volunteers who enjoy working with children, and those who also enjoy getting stuck in with fun activities.

Many volunteers are parents, however sometimes they find it difficult juggling work and volunteering, therefore anyone aged 18 and over is welcome to volunteer.

Those with previous Scouts or Guides experience is useful, however essential training will be provided to those without any previous experience.

Volunteering offers great opportunities, and gives people looking for a career in working with children great experience for their careers.

Official administrator for the Scouts, Alan Brinkworth said: “Scouts is a very rewarding experience, and is a great environment for those who enjoy working with children.”
