A REDDITCH self defence group has released an anti-harassment programme after the government revealed plans to make street sexual harassment illegal.
Catcalling, following someone and blocking their path will be criminalised in England under plans backed by the Home Secretary.
Redditch Self Defence was formed by Pete Martin who has been a Self Defence instructor since 1989.
He said: “We fully support the Government’s plans – everyone has the right to feel safe while walking the streets.
“People are reluctant to help if they see harassment taking place as they made be scared of making things worse or becoming a target themselves.”
The new education course covers the Self Defence Law actions you can take if harassed and safe ways to help and intervene if you witness harassment.
Redditch Self Defence has already presented to pupils at Redditch college and is booked into the YMCA in January.
The course can be delivered to high schools, colleges, workplaces or for local groups.
