REDDITCH’S Kingfisher Shopping Centre is set to host a family-friendly fundraiser this week to help raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Kingfisher Cares charity, Your Ideas.
The event this Saturday (July 22) is part of One Great Day, a UK-wide annual charity fundraising day held by shopping centres.
Between 11am and 3pm in Worcester Square, fair-style favourites will be set up for visitors.
Activities including face painting, balloons, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and an appearance from Kingfisher’s very own mascot Charlie the Monkey will entertain the little ones. Your Ideas will also be setting up a colouring station for children to try.
Two children’s charities will benefit from the funds raised by One Great Day, which aims to inspire, engage and empower the community to make a difference by getting involved in local fundraising, and has so far raised over £250,000 since 2014.
The initiative supports Great Ormond Street Hospital, and a charity of the shopping centre’s choice, giving Kingfisher the opportunity to fundraise for one of its charity partners from the Kingfisher Cares programme.
Your Ideas is a Redditch-based youth and community project that works with children and young people aged 5 to 25 years old from a variety of backgrounds. It aims to offer a safe, nurturing and supportive environment to the young people, enabling them to gain confidence and positive coping strategies by trying new things, building positive relationships and having fun.
Domonique Lippett, Marketing Manager at Kingfisher Shopping Centre, said: “We’re excited for a great fundraising day this weekend to support Great Ormond Street and Your Ideas.
“We’re looking forward to getting stuck in and having lots of fun, and raising as much money as possible. It’s going to be one great day for us, our customers and these fantastic charities.”
