A SINGER-songwriter from Redditch is dreaming big ahead of her performance at London’s 02 Academy this Saturday, February 1.
Meg Scane, who hopes to secure her own record deal, has made it to the grand final of the Open Mic UK music competition – one of the biggest searches for unsigned talent in the country.
The 21-year-old said: “As well as being crowned the ‘UK’s Best on the Mic’, the overall winner of the competition will receive studio time to record their own album, extensive media promotion and the opportunity to work alongside top producers.
“I will be performing my brand new song Sleep Safe.”
In order to be chosen the winner of the competition, of which there are still around 30 hopefuls left, Meg must place in the judges’ final three.
But there’s a catch, as the top three will then have their judges’ scores combined with the number of text votes they were able to secure from family, friends and strangers over the last few weeks.
The winner will be the person who has the biggest combined score.
“I’m feeling excited and nervous at the same time because I still need to get as many text votes as I can,” added Meg.
Each text costs £1 plus standard network charges and all funds raised will go to a charity which is set to be announced at the event.
