A PAIR of students from Redditch have proved that sibling support may be the key to success after graduating together from Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW) first class honours degrees in Business Management.
Sisters Stacey Bisson and Carla Kesterton juggled their studies around family life and work commitments and Stacey, who progressed on to her top-up degree after successfully completing her Higher National Diploma, has since gained employment at HoW College as a Business Lecturer.
She said: “Compared to universities, the classes are small so you really get to know your lecturers and the support they offer is amazing.
“The course price is less but that doesn’t mean the qualification is any different. It was hard work doing the degree alongside everything else but the expertise of lecturers and knowing what a difference it would make to my career pushed me on through the difficult parts.”
Sister, Carla, was apprehensive about re-entering education as a mature student, but spurred on by her family and lecturers support is now looking to gain more experience in management and is keen to study her Master’s Degree in Business Management.
“I would highly recommend the HND and BA (Hons) Business Management as the knowledge and experience of the lecturers made learning enjoyable and shows how the theory applies to real life situations.,” she said.
“I have now achieved a first class BA (Hons) in Business Management and it has already opened up opportunities for progression in my workplace.”
Bridgette Bennett, Coordinator of Higher Education Business Management, said :“Our super siblings Stacey and Carla are an amazing double act.
“Their achievements seem even more impressive when we consider they ‘fast-tracked’ through these qualifications. Both sisters completed their degrees in three years part-time, instead of the usual six years.
“The sisters are truly amazing and testament to the fact that the College’s unique fast-track delivery method really works.”
