Redditch sisters give people the chance to send letters to lost loved ones

THREE sisters have come together to get a postbox installed at Redditch Crematorium for people to send letters to lost loved ones.

The idea came from sisters Kristina Andrews, Karina Homer and Lisa Owen after a similar post box was installed at Matchborough Pond on Christmas Eve last year by Bound Together CIC, as a surprise for Karina.

The letters will remain unread and will be turned into seed paper to breathe new life into nature in their memory.

Karina and her sister Kristina have run the memory bear group for the last four years after suffering the loss of three children and their mum.

They make their bears at the Old Needleworks from 9.30am until 1.30pm every Thursday, with members of the public invited to join the free group and bring along pieces of their lost loved ones’ clothes to help create the memento.

The sisters help support people making their bear and hope it helps those dealing with loss of any kind.

Karina has been working hard over the past year holding charity events to raise funds to install the postbox and said she was so thankful to finally have it up and running.

She said: “It has taken many phone call, emails and meetings but we finally got the go ahead.

“We have fundraised to support this through our Memory Bear Group, attending carnivals, holding tombolas and getting out and about.

“I’m so thankful to everyone who has donated and made this possible.”

The postbox is outside Redditch Crematorium and open to anyone who wants to write a letter.
