A REDDITCH man was among five arrested following a pitch invasion at the Aston Villa v Birmingham city football match on Sunday (April 23).
The 18 year old, together with a 24 year-old from Swadlincote and three men from Birmingham aged 21 to 30 were arrested for allegedly invading the pitch said a West Midlands Police spokesperson.
The men were held as part of a ‘safety and security’ operation added the spokesperson.
The match, which Villa won 1-0, plunges their city rivals closer to the relegation zone in the Championship.
A sixth man, aged 21 and from Dudley, was also arrested for allegedly abusing a stadium steward.
