TESCO is in talks with the Arcadia Group – which features top brands like Dorothy Perkins, Burton Menswear, Miss Selfridge and Topshop – about opening an outlet at its Coldfield Drive store.
The massive supermarket, which extends over two floors, sells a huge range of goods and also features services a pharmacy, Costa Coffee, car wash and opticians.
It is understood that Arcadia would take over the upper floor with a Dorothy Perkins outlet among those under discussion.
Across the country there has been intense competition among supermarkets for business and Redditch is no exception with an Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons as well as Tesco in the town plus German discounters like Lidl and Aldi.
The move coincides with, but is not connected to, says Tesco, an operational change regarding shelf re-stocking which will be moving from a night time to daytime.
Staff affected will be redeployed across the business.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “We are looking at the potential of opening an Arcadia outlet in our Tesco Redditch store. This opening would not impact our colleagues working in store. We will ensure to keep the community updated with any progress.”
