Redditch toy appeal back for Christmas

Redditch Editorial 8th Nov, 2022   0

ST STEPHEN’S Church and charity Acts of Kindness have joined forces to once again bring some festive cheer to youngsters with the launch of the Redditch Christmas Toy Appeal.

In previous years, the Christmas Toy Appeal has helped over 600 children have a happy holiday by providing them with presents.

With the cost-of-living crisis impacting families across the town, there is a fear there may be no presents handed out in some households this year.

St Stephen’s is expecting the need of the appeal, which is backed by the Standard, to be bigger than ever.

Elaine Whitfield from St Stephen’s said: “We believe that every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas.

“We provide toys to children, regardless of race, religion and gender, as long as they are referred via a social worker, a school, a foodbank or a women’s refuge.”

She added the Make Christmas Special Toy Appeal would not happen with people’s support and urged residents to help the church bring a little hope and happiness to local families.

People can help by buying a toy for a child aged from newborn to 18 years.

A donation can be made to Acts of Kindness towards toys or gift vouchers and shops and companies can become drop off points.

St Stephen’s also needs some Christmas helpers to help sort, collect and receive toys and donations.
