Redditch train commuters make big savings through lockdown

Redditch Editorial 20th Aug, 2020   0

REDDITCH rail users who commute to Birmingham have saved an average of £712 on their train fares while they have been working from home during the coronavirus lockdown.

The figure, released following research by personal finance experts Bankrate, is the second highest in the West Midlands behind Worcester (£718).

Tamworth was third (£694), Rugby was fourth (£620) and Bromsgrove fifth (£614).

Despite the UK government changing the work from home guidance at the beginning of August, more than 20 of the UK’s largest companies have said the majority of their employees will continue to work from home for the ‘foreseeable future’.

The study looked at the Second City’s most popular commuter towns since the Covid-19 restrictions were introduced.
