Redditch uniform bank appeals for donations

PARENTS in Redditch are being urged to donate their children’s old school uniform to help those in need.

The uniform bank will be at the Kingfisher Centre on August 16 with thousands of items of donated uniform available to take away.

The donation points are guest services at Kingfisher Centre and Inspire at The Barn Winyates.

Any branded and non-branded items of school clothing, as well as PE kits, coats, shoes and trainers are all accepted.

Please ensure all donations are in a clean and suitable condition.

Organiser Coun Harvey said: “Uniform back was started in 2013 by Coun Joe Baker and has become an established resource for Redditch parents.

“Over the last 12 years we must have helped to reuse hundreds of thousands of items of school uniform.

“This has saved parents a huge amount of money and prevented good quality items ending up in landfill. Everyone is welcome to pick up items they need on the day.”

Redditch Labour has welcomed recent legislation to reduce the amount of branded uniform required by schools.
