REDDITCH Uniform Bank helped more than 450 families ahead of the schools starting back when it returned to the Kingfisher Centre last weekend.
The event, organised by Redditch Labour Party, appeals to the community to donate school uniform.
Redditch Borough Council’s deputy leader, Coun Sharon Harvey, said: “Once again we have successfully helped hundreds of families with the cost of new clothes, whilst saving thousands of items from being thrown away and wasted.
“We cannot do this without the generous people who donate it all in the first place.”
“This is always an amazing event which has become a vital date in the community calendar.
“There are many volunteers who work incredibly hard to ensure the uniform bank is organised and successful.
“We must thank the Kingfisher Centre for its generous support in providing a venue and for being a key donation point.”
A donation bucket raised just over £100 which will be divided between Peter Martin’s Redditch Self Defence project and the Christmas Toy Appeal run by the local churches.
Leftover uniform will be collected by New Starts who are opening up on the retail park next to Sainsbury’s.
