Redditch drivers wanted to help elderly people get to their destination

Redditch Editorial 11th Feb, 2019   0

A COMMUNITY interest company is looking for more volunteer drivers to help the elderly get to their destination.

BluWave Community Service is after drivers across Redditch and Bromsgrove who can use their own car to take people to and from hospitals and make sure they get to GP appointments on time.

They might even find themselves taking someone to a rare social event or out to the shops.

“It’s all about enriching their life and making a positive impact on the local community,” said BluWave owner Celia Arthur.

“Having access to transport has a big impact and can prevent loneliness and isolation. It improves the quality of life for many vulnerable people.”

Celia and her business partner Carole Walker set up BluWave after the closure of RVS Rural Rides Scheme in March last year.

They realised elderly people would be left without transport unless a new scheme was set up and were determined to keep the service local.

The business has grown and improved since first setting up in June 2018 after completing the National Enterprise scheme run by Worcestershire County Council.

To join the team of volunteer drivers, call 01527 759650.
