A REDDITCH woman has been given a community order after biting one police officer and kicking another.
Louise Taylor, of Barnwood Close, Church Hill, pleaded guilty at Redditch Magistrates Court on Tuesday (March 1) to two charges of assaulting an officer.
Mark Soper, prosecuting, told the court the 47-year-old had been thrown out of Fever nightclub in the town centre on February 13 after an altercation with a member of staff and was spoken to by PC Smith.
He said: “She fell over and PC Smith tried to help her to her feet when the officer was bitten on the left hand causing some bleeding and a small cut and scratches.
“She was arrested and taken into the custody area of the station where an altercation took place and she kicked PC Turberfield leaving her with a pain in the leg.”
Defence solicitor, Jo Outhwaite, said Taylor did not recall anything from the incident and was convinced her drink was spiked. She told how Taylor had been struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and this may have caused her to lash out at the officers when they got close or touched her.
“On occasions she gets very emotional when she feels she is under strain or being confronted and on this occasion the fact she had a drink may have provoked her behaviour.
“If they had handled her or got too close that may have prompted her reaction. She has gone to her GP and is being considered for a referral for her issues.”
District Judge Nigel Cadbury gave Taylor a 12 month community order with 30 rehabilitation days and a 10pm to 7am curfew on Friday and Saturday nights for the next four weeks. Taylor was also ordered to pay £100 compensation to PC Smith and £50 to PC Turberfield and pay £195 in costs.
