Redditch young photographer shortlisted for national award

Redditch Editorial 7th Mar, 2023   0

A YOUNG photographer from Redditch has been shortlisted for the RSPCA ‘People’s Choice Award’, writes Eloise Hodges.

Evie Morgan, who is 12 years old, took this pet portrait ‘Cosy Cuddles’ – now one of 14 images in the running for the national award.

Voting opens today (Tuesday, March 7) at 12.30pm and will close next Tuesday, March 14, at 1pm. The winner will be announced March 16.

Part one of the competition took place last year, where the overall winners of the competition were judged by a panel of photographic experts.

The second part of the competition is the People’s Choice Award.

The winner of this award will be chosen through an online poll, enabling people to pick their favourite photo from the mobile phone and devices category which features three age groups – under 12s, 12 to 15s, and 16 to 18-year-olds. Alongside this, they can choose from the pet personalities and pet portrait categories.

The winner will receive £100 worth of Amazon vouchers, an RSPCA young photographer’s award 2022 trophy, and a certificate.

RSPCA photographer and awards judge Andrew Forsyth said: “The people’s choice award is a fantastic part of the competition because now the public have a chance to get involved and pick their favourite photo.

“I can’t wait to see which one is picked as the winning photo- it’s going to be a very tough choice for everyone to make.”
