Redditch youngster is generous by nature

A COMPASSIONATE nine-year-old from Alcester has raised more than £100 for charity after her father was diagnosed with cancer this summer.

Hannah Bowld, who attends St Nicolas’ Church of England Primary School, decided to raise some money for Cancer Research after her dad, James, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in August.

Taking a small tin from her bedroom, Hannah decided to simply talk to her friends and neighbours about the good cause she hoped to support and asked them all to give generously – which they did.

Mum Paula said: “She’s very independent and very caring, so we weren’t completely surprised when she started collecting money for charity.

“She shared with them what our family is going through and simply asked them to give generously – so far she has raised more than £100 completely by herself.

“We’re extremely proud of her.”

The youngster, who lives in Alcester with her mum and dad and younger brother Lewis, hopes that the money she has collected will go to help other people affected by cancer.

The family are also trying to raise some funds to help James keep his business afloat whilst he undergoes chemo treatment and anyone who wishes to support them can visit https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/boldhydr0
