Redditch youngster Isaac opens up second foodbank

FRIENDS of Isaac’s Foodbank has opened a second site in Batchley to help more local people in need.

Mayor of Redditch, Coun Ann Isherwood, officially launched the new site last Saturday and there was also a performance from SantaSax.

Two years ago youngster Isaac decided he wanted to set up his own foodbank alongside his mum Claire to help people during the pandemic.

The service, which offers food and other types of support to local people in need, helps between 80 and 100 families a week and is available 24/7.

The second site was introduced due to increased demand and to better help those who may struggle to get to Isaac’s Greenlands site.

It has been named ‘Samuel’s Place’ after a young man Isaac met during his charity efforts.

Samuel put Isaac’s mum Claire in touch with his parents, Sallie and Dean Attwell, who offered to host the new site.

Claire said: “The opening was awesome, the support Isaac has had at just 11 years old has been phenomenal.

“We were swamped with donations at the opening and I cannot thank our community, near and far, for all they have achieved in Isaac’s name.

“I’m totally blown away with how successful this foodbank has been, to think of how much we’ve grown is incredible.”
