REDDITCH schoolchildren looking for something to do on their half-term break can visit the Kingfisher Centre for a virtual expedition.
Tomorrow (Thursday, February 23) Google Expeditions Pioneer Programme will be visiting the town’s shopping centre, allowing youngsters to take virtual field trips using the latest virtual reality technology.
The tech means that children can explore the depths of the coral reefs and going beyond the horizons of Mars, all in one afternoon.
With over 400 expeditions to choose from including historical cities, outer space and inside the human body, the virtual reality headsets are based on content from the school curriculum to make the immersive experience educational as well as fun.
Fiona Faizey, deputy general manager at Kingfisher Shopping Centre, said: “This is such an exciting opportunity for children to have a truly immersive experience with the most up to date technology.
“The ability to reach such heights and explore places they would never get to see, all from the comfort of Kingfisher Shopping Centre is just amazing – it’s an event not to be missed.”
The event will run at Kingfisher on Thursday, February 23, between 9am and 5pm.
