PEOPLE in Redditch are invited to nominate candidates worthy of cutting the ribbon and officially opening the latest development at the Abbey Stadium.
The Abbey Stadium and leisure centre are launching three new studios in January – a sweat studio, dance, mind and body studio and the new cycling studio – and are on the look out for a guest of honour to officially open them in the New Year.
As part of a January campaign designed to get people to try something new in the New Year, the stadium are running a nomination process to find a local person fit for the job.
There is no age limit for who can nominate or be nominated and everyone entered will be considered, but the nomination must have something to do with health, wellbeing or physical activity. It could be someone who has won a personal battle, turned over a new leaf, made a difference in the community or inspired others’ health and wellbeing.
All nominations will be considered by a panel of officers not associated with the Abbey Stadium who will pick the person they believe should open the new studios.
The guest of honour will attend a ceremony with other nominees and dignitaries as part of an open day on January 14 to cut the ribbon and officially launch the new facilities.
Coun Pat Witherspoon, whose portfolio covers leisure services, said: “Is there someone you know of who has tried something new and changed for the better? The Abbey Stadium has something for everyone so whoever they are, whatever age and whatever they’ve done, if you think someone deserves this sort of recognition, nominate them today.”
Nominations can be made at http://www.redditchbc.gov.uk/tryanuary or emailed to [email protected], or sent in to the Town Hall at Communications Team, Town Hall, Walter Stranz Square, Redditch, B98 8AH.
The Abbey Stadium are holding a free open day on January 14 where visitors can have the opportunity to try new classes, gym activities and take part in free swims.
