A REDDITCH barber is hoping to be a cut above the rest after being shortlisted for a national competition to crown Britain’s best wet shaving barber.
Haider Alsohaini, of Evesham Road’s traditional Italian gentleman’s salon, Bella Barba, beat off scores of other barbers to land a place in the regional final.
With 13 years of experience under his razor, Haider thinks he has what it takes to do well in the competition.
“I’m really passionate about old-school barbering,” he added. “For me it’s not just a profession, it’s a lifestyle too.
“Hopefully, I’ll make it to the final – be sure to watch this space.”
If the 29-year-old takes the West Midlands title of Best Wet Shaving Barber he will go head-to-head against seven top barbers at Birmingham’s NEC for the national final in May.
But first Haider must impress judges later this month in the regional competition where he will be assessed on his shave preparation, razor technique, post-shave routine, health and safety and overall efficiency.
The competition, organised by men’s grooming brand The Bluebeards Revenge and the British Barbers’ Association, is now in its third year.
