A REDDITCH teenager who struggled with confidence and anxiety has faced her fears – and been crowned the winner of an international modeling competition.
Seventeen-year-old Olivia Nadler, from Oakenshaw, entered the Face of the World modeling competition to help improve her confidence and self-esteem.
And last Saturday (November 4) she went up against contestants from all over the world at the finals in Birmingham – and was named the Teen Face Of The World 2018 winner.
She was up against entrants from countries such as South Africa, Northern Ireland and Poland and now plans to go on to represent the UK in more Face of the World events.
Olivia, who studies at Bourneville College, said: “All through my schooling I was bullied which made me very shy and anxious around people.
“My mum entered me into my first pageant last year, where I was put onto a stage in front of a lot of people. The aim was to try and boost my confidence and it really did help.
“Although I didn’t win anything it gave me a real boost, so I decided to challenge myself by entering the competition again, just to see what would happen – and this time I won.”
She will now go on champion her cause, giving talks and showing other youngsters that anxiety and lack of confidence need not hold them back from achieving good things.
“Lots of people face daily struggles and challenges, and I want to show people that they can still achieve amazing things,” said Olivia.
The prestigious Face Of The World contest is a modeling competition for both men and women, creating experiences and opportunities for people worldwide.
