Redditch's St Lukes School takes home top awards

A REDDITCH school has been awarded two prestigious titles for its commitment to play and sports.

St Lukes C Of E First School in Southcrest achieved a Platinum OPAL for their creativity and perseverance to play across all age groups and their commitment to exploring a wide variety of play types.

They have also achieved the School Games gold level for the 2025/26 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

A spokesperson for the school said: “We have created an inclusive environment – one where every child’s play style is valued and celebrated.

“We have an exceptional play team. Their dedication, collaborative spirit and desire to give children the very best play experiences have been evident throughout.”

“With a high number of our young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

“We are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.”
