Redditch's Where Next can bank on TSB support again

Redditch Editorial 27th Sep, 2017   0

REDDITCH charity Where Next has received the thumbs up from local TSB customers – for the second year running.

Account holders have once again voted for the learning disability charity to be the bank’s chosen cause for 2017/18.

And on Friday staff at the Unicorn Hill branch were busy selling cakes, cycling and hiking to raise even more money for Where Next.

Not only that but they presented the charity with a bumper cheque for £341, the remainder of that year’s fund raising.

Visitors popping in to enjoy the offerings included town MP Rachel Maclean, Mayor Jenny Wheeler and Councillor Bill Hartnett, the leader of Redditch Borough Council.

“Demographics are changing, more people are finding out about us and the need is increasing, so we really do rely on charitable donations,” said Where Next general manager Graham Clark.

The charity has 89 users and is based on Easemore Road with a garden nursery business at Spernall by Studley.

“More people are needing support and there are fewer organisations offering what we do,” added Graham.

TSB branch manager Matt Jefferies, whose mum Janet baked some of the cakes, said: “We’re doing this as part of a Hike, Bike or Bake initiative from TSB.

“We could choose to do one of the options but decided to do all three.

“All the staff have walked to work this morning, we’ve got a static bicycle and we hope to clock up 80 miles on it in a day and we’ve been baking too.

“Throughout we’ve been backed by family and friends and all out customers which is wonderful.”
