REDDITCH restaurant Redolence Spice’s recently won the historic Tiffin Cup and Rachel Maclean, MP, who nominated the Unicorn Hill eatery, dropped in recently to congratulate them on being crowned the best South Asian restaurant in the UK.
The prestigious Tiffin Cup competition is held each year to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country.
In total 60 restaurants from across the UK were nominated by MPs for this year’s competition.
And it was Redditch’s Redolence Spice which beat off stiff competition to win this year’s competition.
It is the first time a restaurant from the West Midlands has won this prestigious title.
The owner of the famous Madhu’s Restaurant Sanjay Anand MBE was joined by other famous faces on the judging panel of the competition.
Redolence Spice were presented the winning prize by The Sergeant at Arms, Kamal El-Hajji.
Speaking after her visit to Redolence Spice, Rachel said: “It was fantastic to meet chef Hussain, the talented man behind the winning Supreme Bhoona Roast, and his son, Samiul, to congratulate them on this historic win.
“Redditch is now home to the UK’s best South Asian restaurant and Redolence Spice has surely put our town on the culinary map.
“Everyone at Redolence Spice should be very proud of themselves, as I and the rest of the town are of them. I can’t wait to return to try the award-winning Supreme Bhoona Roast!”
Samiul said: “It was nice to see how proud Rachel was of us, her smile was evident of that.
“It is great to see Rachel support small businesses on Unicorn Hill, I can see why she’s a town favourite. Rachel is what this town needs.”
