A SPECIAL garden party to relaunch and rejuvenate the Alcester Refugee Fund (ARF) is to be held next weekend.

Frank Wood, of the AFR is organising two events to support the fund – the first on Saturday, September 16 at his home in Alcester.

A folk singer will set the scene and there will be food and refreshments on offer, as well as talk about the charity work ARF does with Open Doors which supports persecuted Christians and provides food, trauma treatment and education.

Tickets cost £8 and are available, alongside location details, from Frank on 01789 400300 or from Orange Mabel and Cafe Xpresso in Alcester.

The second event is on October 7 at the Parish Church, when Tarantara are set to wow the crowds with their special variety of rousing song.

Tarantara are a 50 to 70 strong choir who sing a range of music from contemporary to gospel, country and beyond and the programme is sure to have something for everyone.

The ARF is a group of local people moved by a common desire to make a difference to the lives of refugees, with all money raised going to Open Doors, which works in the refugee camps of Lebanon, Jordan and Syria itself.
