A SUCCESFUL national programme which helps reduce pain in long-term sufferers is set to be run in Redditch.

Escape-pain is a rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain, that integrates educational self-management and coping strategies with an exercise regimen individualised for each participant.

It helps people understand their condition, teaches them simple things they can help themselves with, and takes them through a progressive exercise programme so they learn how to cope with pain better.

This is the fifth programme that has run across Redditch and this time the six-week course is being held at Winyates Surgery.

Participants are urged to grab a place while they can.

The Borough Council’s health intervention officer Hayley Gwilliam, said: “This programme arms people with self-management strategies and helps them live a more active life.

“This also relieves strain from the NHS so saves money and resources in the long-term.

“Thanks to Winyates Surgery, for letting us use their board room, it means the classes are accessible.”

To book a place on the latest course, which starts on March 6, call Hayley on 01527 881404 or email [email protected]
