The marshal was clearing signs at the Spernall junction of the A448 Bromsgrove Road and A435 Alcester Road when the incident happened.

Initial reports told of the patient being stabilised by First Responders from Studley before being rushed to Worcestershire Royal Infirmary.

He was then taken to the emergency centre at the Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry where he underwent a major operation.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Trust said: “We were called just after 11.30am to a road traffic crash involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of the Bromsgrove Road and Alcester Road.
