CREATIVE groups and people with ideas for bringing Redditch’s redundant and unusual spaces back to life are invited to bid for a series of small grants of up to £1,000.
The North East Worcestershire Cultural Compact, which has just officially launched its first major project under the name ReNEW wants people to share their stories about the past in a bid to shape the future of the borough for residents.
There will be an information event about applying for grants this month where interested parties can find out more and talk to like-minded people about their ideas.
The goal of the Compact is to encourage residents to get active and creative and enjoy the amazing parks and open spaces of Redditch and Bromsgrove.
ReNEW is the first major public participation campaign with its focus on storytelling and connectivity and partners including Rubicon Leisure, Redditch BID, Kingfisher Shopping HoW College, Young Solutions and the Redi Centre make up ReNEW.
Borough council Leader Matt Dormer said: “We are always stronger when we work with partners, whether its regeneration or arts and events – and ReNEW is no exception.
“The funding for these grants has been secured by ReNEW and we want to ensure it benefits as many people as possible and unlocks the potential of buildings and spaces which would otherwise be unused.”
There is only a limited amount of cash and each application will be judged on its strength.
Every group applying must have a bank account and individuals must be self-employed.
ReNEW Chair Jane Earl said: “There are so many events and creative projects happening all around us and by harnessing this amazing energy through ReNEW we make them bigger and better and more accessible.
“I look forward to watching ReNEW flourish and the collaborative going from strength to strength.”
