Repair Cafe Alcester open for fixing and mending

Lise Evans 25th May, 2026   0

BROKEN items will be made as good as new thanks to The BIG FIX which is coming to Alcester on Thursday, May 28.

Supported by Repair Cafe Alcester, the event originally initiated by Devon County Council, sees menders fix broken objects such as electronics, garden equipment, clothing, jewellery, clocks and more, giving them a new lease of life.

Due to its huge success, The BIG FIX event is now nationwide for the sixth time, with over 60 repair cafes already registered to take part.

Visitors are welcome to drop in with possessions for its team of dedicated volunteers to fix from 2pm to 5pm at Eric Payne Community Centre off St Faith’s Road (last repair 4:30pm).

Volunteers will also be on hand to greet visitors, provide tea and coffee, and restock cakes and other tasty treats.

Repair cafes like the one in Alcester are increasing in popularity across the country as people become more budget and environmentally conscious.

They are organised and run by volunteers who offer their time and skills to help mend broken items, keep them in use for longer and stop them going to landfill.

Last year, more than 140 repair cafes and 1448 volunteers took part in The BIG FIX, mending 2358 items and saving more than 63,000kg CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent).V
