Resident calls for change after major car crash in Redditch this morning

A MAJOR car crash involving three vehicles took place on the junction of Birmingham Road and Dagnell End Road this morning.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene, near Robins & Day Citroen garage, at around 10.41am.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance said: “Following the crash a woman was taken to the Alexandra Hospital but her injuries are not believed to be serious.

“Two children were also treated at the scene but discharged by ambulance staff immediately.”

Hithergreen Lane resident Gethin Thomas says the crash comes just weeks after Worcestershire Highways closed filter lanes near Hithergreen, forcing traffic, often HGVs, into one lane.

“I’m really angry because I have been asking Worcestershire Highways to reopen the filter lanes because it’s so dangerous,” he said.

“Junction 3 has also been shut for a while so it means there’s more traffic travelling down Birmingham Road than ever before.

“I’m just glad no one was injured.”
